Meet Amanda K.

Amanda will serve as a contributing author and co-founder for Rust Belt Palladium.

One of the things I’m most excited about with Rust Belt Palladium is building a publication with writers who bring different experiences, different perspectives, and a healthy willingness to challenge conventional thinking. Amanda is exactly that kind of writer.

Amanda has worked on local, state, and national political campaigns, helping organize volunteers, build grassroots movements, and turn ambitious ideas into meaningful action. She firmly believes that good policy, good data, and good coffee can solve most problems. The remaining problems, she suspects, usually require another cup of coffee.

She’s naturally skeptical of simple answers to complicated questions, a quality that’s becoming increasingly rare in modern politics. Her writing blends curiosity, pragmatism, and wit as she untangles political chaos, asks the inconvenient questions, and occasionally says the quiet part out loud. She believes democracy works best when people are willing to engage honestly, think critically, and occasionally admit they might not have all the answers.

When she’s not writing or organizing, Amanda is almost certainly being supervised by Oliver, her miniature poodle with very strong opinions and no hesitation about sharing them. Then there’s Winkler, her one-eyed cat, who has somehow perfected the art of judging people with only half the equipment. Between the two of them, it’s safe to say Amanda rarely has the final word.
